Upcoming Events for 2015-16

Happy to announce we've been awarded a Latino Americans: 500 Years of History (funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities and American Library Association), to host a series of events related to the the civil rights in 1960s and 1970s El Monte and South El Monte. We'll be screening archival 16mm film, lead bike rides to the former locations of said murals, and organize a talk and lecture with Gloria Arellanes, former Brown Beret and El Monte native. Stay tuned for dates and times!

East of East: Curriculum Building

This coming year we’ll continue building and sharing our archive. With funding from Columbia University’s History in Action program three of our authors will deliver lectures, conduct oral histories, and work with high school teachers to build curriculum. If you want to learn more about the history of Japanese Americans, Ricardo Flores Magon, and Toypurina in El Monte/South El Monte please stay tuned.
